Pointy hat, black cape, striped tights, green face. Every piece is a shortcut the eye already knows. Fifteen minutes, easy: a black cape, a pointy witch hat, striped tights, and green face paint. The green face paint is what separates 'witch' from 'kid in a cape,' so don't skip it.

Tip: tie the ribbon in a bow at the front of the cape instead of a safety pin.
Sizing: Built for kids ages 3 to 10. Kids under 8 use a twin flat sheet, tweens and adults use a full flat, and trim the hem so it clears the ground by a few inches. Toddlers trip on hems an adult would clear.
Steps
- Pin the cape at the shoulders, or tie it with ribbon.
- Paint the nose, chin, and forehead lightly green with a fingertip or sponge.
- Use non-toxic kids' green face paint only.
- Pull on the black-and-white striped tights and the pointy witch hat.
- Carry a branch from the yard as a broom if one is handy.
- Optional pro finish: tie the ribbon in a bow at the front of the cape instead of a safety pin.

Common questions
How much green face paint for a little witch?
Just the nose, chin, and forehead dabbed on lightly with a fingertip or sponge. A fully green face looks great for ten minutes and then smears on everything they touch.
What if the cape is too long for a toddler?
Pin it at the shoulders so it hits mid-back, and trim the bottom if it still drags. A cape that reaches the ground on a small kid is a tripping hazard on stairs.
