A green hoodie with felt spikes down the back and a stuffed tail, and suddenly your toddler is stomping around the house. Twenty minutes, easy: a green hoodie, green craft felt for the spikes, and pillow stuffing for the tail. Run the spikes up over the hood so it reads from the front too.

Tip: cut two small white felt triangles and pin them to the cuffs as claws.
Steps
- Cut a paper triangle first.
- Test the size on the hoodie.
- Cut 6 to 8 big triangles from the green felt.
- Tape the spikes in a row down the back of the hoodie.
- Pin each spike from inside the hoodie.
- Stuff the old socks with the pillow stuffing.
- Tape the open ends of the socks shut.
- Safety: Pin everything from inside the green hoodie, so pin backs face the fabric and never the skin.

Common questions
How many spikes does a baby dinosaur need?
Six to eight palm-size triangles down the back reads as dinosaur instantly. Fewer looks sparse; more looks cluttered.
How do you make a dinosaur tail that stays up?
Stuff two old socks firmly with pillow stuffing, tape the open ends shut, and pin the tail to the back waistband, not higher, or it flops forward.
