A tan sweatsuit plus a fuzzy mane hood. The mane is the lion, everything else is pajamas. Twenty minutes, easy: a tan or brown sweatsuit, brown fuzzy fabric for the mane, and scissors. The mane should frame the face fully; partial manes read as hood.

Still need:
Tip: cut a small triangle tail from leftover fabric and pin it at the back waistband.
Steps
- Safety: Adults handle the scissors when cutting the brown fuzzy fabric.
- Cut a paper collar first.
- Test it around the hood.
- Cut the brown fuzzy fabric into a wide collar for the mane.
- Cut big, then trim after the fitting.
- Pin the mane around the hood of the tan sweatsuit.
- Fluff it out.
- Safety: Pin the mane from inside the sweatsuit, so pin backs face the fabric and never the skin.
- Paint a brown nose and whiskers.
- Keep clear of the eyes.
- Skip the paint for under-twos and any kid who rubs their face.
- Pin the mane flat at the back so it does not slip over the eyes.
- Optional pro finish: cut a small triangle tail from leftover fabric and pin it at the back waistband.

Common questions
How do you keep the mane out of the kid's face?
Pin the mane around the hood or neckline, not the forehead, and fluff it outward. Pin the back of the mane flat so it cannot slip forward over the eyes when they run.
Safety pins or fabric glue for the mane?
Pins for anything a toddler wears, you can reposition them, and glue needs 30 minutes of stillness no toddler provides. Glue works fine for older kids who will sit still.
