A dress or a crown from the closet. Every princess works, and that's the point. Fifteen minutes, easy: a dress from the closet per person, a cereal box per crown, and gold or silver paint or markers. The crowns should be visibly homemade; perfect crowns look store-bought.

Common questions
How do you keep a cardboard crown on a kid's head?
Tape a bobby pin inside the crown and clip it to the hair. Crowns balanced on top slide off; pinned crowns survive the parade.
Do the princesses need matching dresses?
No: any dress from the closet works, and different dresses look like different kingdoms. The crowns are what make it a group.
