Materials

Matching jerseys or same-color t-shirts, 1 per player (own: from closet, or buy a multi-pack at a sports store)
Black shirt and black shorts for the referee, 1 set (own: from closet)
Soccer ball, 1 any size (buy: sports store, or borrow from home)
Red cardstock rectangle, 3x4 inches, 1 (own: cut from a folder or colored paper)
Black marker, 1 (own: from home)
White athletic tape, 1 roll (buy: sports store or pharmacy)
Scissors, 1 pair

Steps

Assign roles: most of the family are players.
One person is the referee.
Players: wear matching jerseys or same-color shirts.
Wrap white athletic tape around one upper arm as a captain's armband.
Referee: wear all black.
Safety: Cut the cardstock slowly and keep fingers clear of the scissors.
Cut the red cardstock a little larger than 3x4 inches first.
Trim to size after holding it up to check.
Draw a thick black border around the red card.
Players carry or dribble the soccer ball.
The referee practices holding the red card high.
